Exemplary sustainably committed hotels
The Best Western Plus Kurhotel an der Obermaintherme in Bad Staffelstein has firmly established sustainable measures in its operations and was awarded the Dehoga Environmental Check in Gold for this. Among other things, the conference hotel is a member of the association "United Against Waste e.V." and stands for the respectful handling of the resource food. Highly structured by the association membership so the sustainability with the reduction of food waste and the waste of valuable resources is further expanded. A completely new sustainable kitchen concept has been introduced at the spa hotel: From the field to the table, resource-conserving and Franconian-regional, that's how Alexander Hartung, the chef, cooks. The nutrition expert has developed his own sustainable concept "B(o)orn for Nature" and implements it in the creation of his dishes every day. According to this, all ingredients and products used meet at least three of the following five criteria: organic, ecological, economic, regional and sustainable – in short "boorn" – a plus for humans, animals and the environment.
The Best Western Plus Palatin Kongresshotel in Wiesloch near Heidelberg has already been recognized as the best sustainable and best conference hotel in Baden-Württemberg. In the latest round of certification that CERTIFIED carries out on site every three years, the hotel scored "very good" as a Certified Green Hotel and even "excellent" as a Certified Conference Hotel. The aim is to permanently improve environmental friendliness throughout the hotel operations and the event center, as well as to promote social commitment. The theme of sustainability runs like a thread through the entire hotel, so all the sustainable activities that have taken place are described in the "Green Way" – a picture gallery. A photovoltaic system on the roof and three of the hotel's own combined heat and power plants supply the hotel with 100% climate-friendly electrical energy; the surplus is fed into the public grid. The hotel's human resources policy is particularly geared towards sustainability; this is reflected in the certifications as "Excellent Training Company" and "Fair Job Hotel".
In the sustainably managed ATLANTIC Congress Hotel Essen, a hotel of the WorldHotel Elite brand, your event will be an experience in the 10 conference rooms with an event area of 1,200 m². Situated directly on the 65-hectare Grugapark – the view of which you can best enjoy from the roof terrace &n the subway station in front of the hotel offers an environmentally friendly journey by public transport. Environmentally friendly measures and facilities such as sensors and water-saving taps, motion detectors and light timers in the public areas, environmentally friendly paper bags instead of plastic laundry bags, the use of glass instead of plastic straws, a dedicated e-car charging station and much more are a matter of course for the ATLANTIC team. The hotel also cooperates with the children & youth initiative "Plant-for-the-Planet": currently, a tree is planted for every booked event. In the area of CSR, the ATLANTIC also supports social projects & social campaigns such as the homeless aid "Essen packt an", the "Patientenhilfe Darmkrebs" or "Refill Deutschland". The hotel is a signatory of "fairpflichtet", the sustainability code of the German-speaking event industry.
