Excursion tips in Vienna:
Sigmund Freud Museum (in the neighborhood of the hotel The Harmonie Vienna)
It is probably the most famous address in Vienna: Sigmund Freud lived in the house Berggasse 19 in Vienna's 9th district for 47 years, from 1891 to 1938. The museum was set up in 1971 in psychoanalysis's former home and practice rooms with the help of Anna Freud, Sigmund Freud's youngest daughter.
Theater and opera
The Schauspielhaus in the Porzellangasse is a small theater, which offers modern stagings and is reachable within 5 walking minutes. The Burgtheater can be reached in 10 minutes by the D-Tram, as well as the State Opera in 15 minutes.
Vienna Ringstrasse with magnificent buildings
The Vienna Ring Road (Ringstrasse) is 5.3 km long. Here you find some of the most famous sights in Vienna. The monumental buildings that were built during the historicist period from the 1860s to the 1890s include the State Opera, the Parliament, the Museum of Art and Natural History, the Burgtheater and the Vienna City Hall.
The Viennese "Steffl"
St. Stephen's Cathedral is a landmark in the city center of Vienna and Austria's most important Gothic building. It is located in the center of the 1st district and is the most popular sight in Vienna. The imposing cathedral is 137 meters high and houses a number of art treasures. Climb up the 343 steps to the Türmerstube and enjoy the imposing view over Vienna.
The Viennese Heuriger
It’s as well known as the Giant Ferris Wheel, Schönbrunn Palace, the Boys Choir or the Lipizzaners.
Visit the Heurigen Mayer am Nussberg. The Buschenschank amidst the vineyards offers a magnificent view of Vienna, an area with sun loungers and culinary delights, freshly prepared daily and with products from small factories.
From Harmonie Vienna you can take the tram D and then it’s just a short walk in the Viennese vineyards.
Visit the Josephinum - medical, historical exhibition
The Josephinum was built in 1783-85 for the Medical Surgical Academy and displays numerous wax models of the human body. In addition, the Josephinum houses a library of medical writings and publications from the 15th to 18th centuries as well as numerous other collections of the Medical University of Vienna documenting the history of medicine and the great contribution of the Vienna School of Medicine.
The Josephinum can be reached on foot from the Harmonie Vienna.
